“Revealed: How To Improve Concentration With Meditation”
If you want to improve concentration and focus, meditation is a proven way to clear out that mental clutter. Rid yourself of all those unnecessary thoughts and you’ll be able to focus and get to your goals so much faster.
So what is meditation? How exactly is it going to help your concentration? Meditation is where you spend time focusing on a picture, sound or an affirmation. There are many different methods, but they all have something in common, they all develop an awareness of the self.
As you meditate more often, your mind will tend to quieten, there will be less random thoughts running around your mind. This makes it much easier to focus on whatever it is that you’re doing. If it’s sports, work or just day to day living.
Studies have shown that regular meditation has many benefits including better focus, less stress, better sleep and of course improved concentration. Basically, through meditation you learn to use your brain more effectively.
One study has even found that most people think about 6000 thoughts a day, 95% of which are the exact same thoughts that we were thinking about yesterday. It’s actually the exception for anyone to have an original thought. That’s why a genius like Leonardo da Vinci has a reputation that has lasted centuries, simply because he thought original concepts.
This shows us that not thinking as much will actually make it easier to focus on the thoughts that are actually going to help you, rather than the same old anxieties that have been filling up your life.
So not having your mind filled up with thoughts about what you’re going to have for dinner tonight, or what your friends might (or might not) be doing this weekend allows us to really get the most out of our lives. There’s plenty of time to think about these things when it’s something you need to act on.
You can think of it like this, you have a certain amount of available concentration at any given time. Most of us, if we sit down to perform a task, say driving to the shops, are only putting a small fraction of our attention on the actual task at hand. We’ll be thinking of what we need to get from the shop, about that guy at work who’s been bugging you, about what’s on TV tonight and so on. So is it any wonder that we don’t notice a friend walking along the road when our mind is so busy?
We usually spend so much time caught up in all the trivial details of our life, that it’s no wonder that our concentration tends to be scattered. If we can actually focus all our energy on one thing, we can achieve so much more.
So if we can still the mind so that we are thinking about what we’re doing at that one moment, not all the other irrelevant things, that are happening in our life. We can focus all of our mental resources on what we’re doing at the time, we can bring joy and presence to every single moment of our life.
So if you’ve ever wanted to use meditation to improve concentration and really start living your life to the full, there has never been a better time. Focus all the resources of your incredibly powerful mind to get the most out of your life.
