To cure your insomnia, you have to set a time in the evening to put away any work you haven’t finished and leave it for the next day. Bed time isn’t a time that you should be working or worrying about work. An important part of your insomnia cure is relaxation. Spend an hour or more before you go to bed to unwind from your day. After you have had time to let your mind wind down you can meditate. Take this time to reflect on simple things. Listen to nature or even the sounds of silence. That doesn’t mean you might forget to breathe and pass away; it means to breathe deliberately by slowly filling your lungs and slowly exhaling.

After you have gotten yourself into the right frame of mind, you can go to bed and go to sleep if possible. Give yourself a few minutes to relax, allow your mind to help your body relax by imagining your limbs filling with sand, getting heavy, and drifting to sleep.

If you have a difficult night and you cannot fall asleep, don’t stay in bed tossing and turning. Trying too hard can be counter productive. If you can’t get to sleep within a reasonable time frame, you should get up and do something else for a while then go back and try again later. You should include exercise in your daily routine, this will help you to sleep at night, too. If you aren’t asleep and you know you have to get up, you can stress about not getting enough sleep and make it harder to fall asleep. This will feed your insomnia. If you feel yourself stressing over sleep, try to relax, do some simple relaxation exercises, breathe deliberately and if needed take a nice hot bath.

Your mind is powerful and it can either keep you awake by tricking you into believing that you won’t be able to sleep or it can assist you to fall asleep. Meditation on a regular schedule can help you to keep things in your life into perspective. Meditation can also cure insomnia.
