Multiple Meditation Methods From Which to Choose

Did you know there are many popular ways to meditate? You don not have to just sit in a quiet are and chant, for instance. Instead, check out many ways you can participate in meditation exercises below.

- Control of breathing – Some experts of meditation opine breathing if the fundamental act that each person does to live. By controlling breathing which powers our mind, we can control our mind and our thoughts and obtain self realization faster.

- Reflection and deep thought – Those which a philosophical bent of mind prefer this mode which involves going beyond ordinary questions that have clear answers. This method involves asking philosophical questions and seeking answers from inside.

- Mulling over questions like – what is the purpose of life, why did life originate, etc. These help us go beyond our daily mundane thought process to something hidden deep inside our sub consciousness.

- Chanting – There are many who swear by this method of meditation. To simply focus on the meaning of the words and the sound generated by your voice and forgetting everything else is also a method of meditation.

- Service – There are many who find service to be the ultimate form of meditation. They find their inner self talking when they lose themselves in serving others. This includes something as mundane as donating foodstuffs to the needy.

- Silence as meditation – This meditation method involves reduction of the words we speak. To avoid speaking for a fixed number of hours during a day can also be a form of meditation. We intensely focus on our goals that we forget everything else.

- Musical meditation – Some of us find music to be a distraction when we are concentrating. On the other hand, some have found that music is just the thing that helps them concentrate and focus without any distractions. This too can be used for meditation.

A couple more popular meditation methods follow. There are more, so review plenty to decide which suit you best and when. You may find there are a variety of methods you like at certain times and under certain conditions; for example at work during breaks or at home during down time.

Focusing on the Present

In this method, you meet your present without thoughts, feelings and judgments. This may sound very easy but the detachment required is very difficult

Concentration on a Single Object

Some prefer this method which involves focusing on a single object. The term single object can be taken literally to mean one object. Or it can also be understood as seeing the entire universe as a single object. Try these and see what you think. Learn others, too, and get a meditation toolbox packed for your use.

Search the web for more meditation methods and do your research well before choosing your method. If it does not work out, you can always opt for another method which you feel suits you better.
