Yoga – Weight Loss Using Yoga Techniques

Practicing yoga is a great path to weight loss. Yoga refers to the traditional physical, mental and spiritual disciplines which one must follow to keep one’s mind and body under control. This practice originated in India and South East Asia. The word ‘Yoga’ comes from Indian Philosophy and means the union of the individual’s soul with the universe. All great for your weight loss program!

Yoga helps you to stay in shape and tone the body and is an excellent weight loss therapy.

It helps you manage stress, improves flexibility, and helps in mental clarity. It tones the body in a uniform manner unlike other exercises which can leave your skin sagging after sudden weight loss. Yoga can be practiced at any age and keeps the body supple.

It also helps in natural weight loss through various cleansing techniques like stomach wash, lung cleansing, colon cleansing, digestive system cleansing techniques etc. It has various Asans or postures like Tree pose, Angle pose, Triangle pose, Cobra pose, Camel pose, Aeroplane pose Child pose, Cat pose etc. Even a “wind releasing pose”!

2 yoga poses:

The ushtrasana or camel pose, and the dhanurasana or bow pose, have specifically been found to help the function of the pancreas and benefit people with diabetes. However, theses two poses may be challenging at first.

During high endurance activities, the muscles remain active in order to enable them to respond to the next demand presented. The more a muscle contracts the stronger the muscle becomes. Many high-level endurance activities, like skiing or running, make the muscles being used very strong. Unfortunately most endurance activities are one-sided. This means that one side of the body is getting really strong while the opposite side is being neglected.

Hold this position for as long as you comfortably can. Ideally, you will be able to hold this pose for forty seconds.

After you have held the position bring your arms and legs down to the resting or beginning position. It is beneficial to repeat this exercise five times.

This and other yoga exercises massages the digestive system and help the function of the pancreas and other internal organs
